The origin of the Department of English of Dr. Y.S.R Government Degree College, Vedurukuppam coincides with the establishment of the college in June 2021. It primarily offers the course of General English to all the disciplines ranging from B.A. (Bachelor of Arts), B.Sc. (Bachelor of Sciences), and B.Com. (Bachelor of Commerce) (Computer Applications) throughout the first three semesters. The English department of the college also stands as an exclusive academic entity under the purview of Yogi Vemana University, providing the course of Special English as a core subject for the group of HPS (History, Political Science, Special English). The department boasts well-qualified faculty with ample professional experience and commendable teaching skills.

Besides working towards the primary goal of achieving academic excellence, the department strives to enhance the interpersonal skills of the students by organizing co-curricular activities such as seminars, debates, and workshops in collaboration with distinguished academic institutions where they will get exposure to formal situations. We also offer career guidance to the final-year students and enable them to secure placements in reputable organizations.
