The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2021. The department is currently headed by Dr. V. Prabhakar Rao, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., APSET., GATE, Lecturer in Chemistry. Currently, the department offers the following undergraduate programs: B.Sc. (BZC) and B.Sc. (Botany major) with Chemistry as a minor subject with an intake of 30 students. The department has two sanctioned posts, and at present one regular lecturer is working. The Chemistry Department strives to educate students from diverse backgrounds to make them successful, ethical, and effective problem-solvers and professional leaders who will contribute positively to society by advancing the field of chemistry through innovations in teaching and research. The course has a comprehensive curriculum aimed to providing knowledge in both theoretical and practical aspects of chemistry, with an emphasis on practical learning. Classes are handled by vibrant faculty members committed to teaching. Department uses hybrid teaching  methods where the traditional black board teaching is amalgamated with Information and communication technology (ICT) based teaching. This resulted in good results. Right from the inception of the department, the department produced 100% results in all semesters. They motivate the students to become graduates suited to meet the standards expected by the pharmaceutical and other allied industries related to chemistry. The Department of Chemistry has a reasonably good laboratory to perform all types of practicals. The Internet facility at the college facilitates online learning in the subject. The department not only concentrates on teaching, but it also concentrates on research. Dr. V. Prabhakar Rao, Lecturer in Chemistry of the department, has published 19 papers in reputed journals, and he also published 11 book chapters and chapters in seminar proceedings.
