Best Ptracices:
1. Total dissolved salts testing in water:
The Department of Chemistry has been practicing a new best practice every year. In the academic year 2024-25 too, we have initiated a new best practice. We thought of bringing awareness among the students of the importance of total dissolved salts (TDS), a parameter related to the purity of water. We asked the students to collect water samples from their houses as well as on the college campus. Asked them to measure the TDS of those water samples and find out which samples are potable and which are not portable. Further, we brought awareness that water with TDS 300 PPM is excellent for drinking. Up to 600 PPM, it is good. If there are no proper alternative drinking water facilities, in those areas, up to 1200 PPM TDS is also tolerable. But water with TDS greater than 1200 PPM is not at all good for drinking purposes. We further instructed the students to bring awareness among their neighbours in their villages. In this program, principal Dr. P. Annapurna Sarada, vice principal Dr. B. Lakshmi Prasanna Latha, IQAC coordinator Dr. P. Venkatesu, botany lecturers Dr. L.Md. Bhakshu, Dr. C. Aruna, and botany major and computer major students were present. We demonstrated to the students how to measure TDS with a TDS meter and asked them to do it on their own. They measured TDS of all the samples they brought. for Completer report, Click Here.
